Gevo Inc. is a Denver, Colorado based biotechnology company engaged in the research and development of processes for the production of biobutanol and long chain hydrocarbon biofuels from starch. Gevo was founded in 2005 by Khosla Ventures as a spin-out from the California Institute of Technology. The company is following multiple parallel research streams in pursuit of an optimal microbe for the fermentation of starch to butanol and other advanced biofuels.
